What to look for

High Impedance

Impedance is the opposition to electrical flow. impedance is measured in ohms. Basically, the lower the impedance, the lower amount of energy needed for it to sound good. For example: if you were to plug headphones into a phone (lower energy) you would go for a pair of headphones with a low impedance.

On the other hand, the higher the impedance, the more energy you need for it to sound good. So in our case where you are plugging you headphones into a guitar amp (lots of energy) you would want a high impedance pair of headphones to get the most out of your sound.

Frequency Range

The frequency range of a pair of headphones gives it tone variance and EQ quality. the higher the frequency usually better to have.

Brand Names

You can never go wrong with brand names. There is a reason their name is considered a “brand name”, it means their product has made many happy costumers. If they’re still in the business must be theyre doing something right.

Faq

No, tube amps don’t have headphones outs like in regular amps.

For practicing: $50-$200

For recording: $150-$300

For preforming: $100-$200

It is how it sounds. In-ear headphones are something like airpods or earbuds that go in the ear. Over-ear headphones are any headphones that are cupped around the ear.

Usually for preforming you would go with in-ear headphones. But for practicing and recording you should definitely go with the over-ear headphones since it sounds so much more full and rich.

Open back headphones are headphones that allow some sound to leak in the the ear cup of the headphones. These headphones are used mainly for the pleasure listening since it gives the listener a more natural sound. It feels like the music is coming from the room around you.

Closed back headphones on the other hand, blocks out the noise around you. This is great for recording since it doesnt let any outside noise interrupt your audio, this you get just pure audio and nothing else.
